GMCS Middle School Cross Country Teams Shine at NMAA State Meet!

Gallup-McKinley County Schools middle school runners took to the course yesterday in Rio Rancho for the NMAA State Middle School Cross Country Championships, competing in both the large and small school divisions!

Congratulations to all the student-athletes who represented their schools with determination, hard work, and school pride. A special congratulations goes to Tohatchi Middle School’s boys team, which captured 1st place in the Small School Division with a team score of just 59 points!

As the new school year approaches, McKinley Academy is excited to welcome students back for orientation.
Orientation is your opportunity to pick up your class schedule, laptop, textbooks (where applicable), and school supplies, while getting ready for a successful start to the school year.

Crownpoint High School is proud to celebrate two outstanding student-athletes who have earned their place at the National High School Finals Rodeo after competing against the best rodeo talent in New Mexico all season long. Senior Amy Murphy finished 3rd in Breakaway Roping, punching her ticket to the national stage. Junior Tryan Jodie captured the New Mexico State Championship in Steer Wrestling, adding another gold buckle to the Jodie family’s proud bull dogging legacy. Both athletes have represented Crownpoint High School with excellence, determination, and sportsmanship, and we couldn't be prouder of their accomplishments.
Congratulations, Amy and Tryan! We wish you the very best as you compete at the National High School Finals Rodeo in Lincoln, Nebraska, July 19–25.

What an incredible way to celebrate 50 years of HOSA!

The HOSA International Leadership Conference officially opened with music, lights, and the Parade of Flags representing members from around the world. As a founding state member since 1976, New Mexico proudly joined the celebration of five decades of leadership, service, and healthcare excellence.

Students heard inspiring stories from HOSA leaders, scholarship recipients, distinguished alumni, and industry partners. The highlight of the evening was keynote speaker Chris Norton, whose remarkable journey of overcoming a life-changing football injury inspired thousands of future healthcare professionals to persevere through challenges and pursue their goals.

Following the session, GMCS students had the opportunity to meet Chris Norton and take photos with him. The evening concluded with students returning to their hotels to review, study, and prepare for the competitions ahead.

Today, students and advisors from McKinley Academy, Crownpoint High School, and Miyamura High School are headed to Indianapolis, Indiana to represent Gallup-McKinley County Schools at the 2026 HOSA International Leadership Conference!
These outstanding students have already proven themselves among the best in New Mexico, and now they will compete, learn, network, and showcase their talents on the international stage alongside thousands of future healthcare professionals from around the world. We are incredibly proud of their hard work, dedication, leadership, and commitment to pursuing careers in healthcare.

THE THE STANDARD RESPONSE PROTOCOL & STANDARD REUNIFICATION METHOD Full-Day Train the Trainer Workshop An Advanced Introduction to the Standard Response Protocol and the Standard Reunification Method ABOUT THE STANDARD RESPONSE PROTOCOL AND STANDARD REUNIFICATION METHOD The Standard Response Protocol (SP) and Standard Reunification Method (SRM) are used for crisis response and post-crisis reunification in more than 50,000 schools, districts, departments, agencies, organizations and communities around the world. ABOUT THE SEMINAR The Full Day Train the Trainer Workshop introduces participants to the history, concepts and functionality of the SRP and SRM and how to train the programs internally. Participants will walk away from the workshop with a deep understanding of how the SRP provides a proven, action-based enhancement to all-hazards school safety planning. After learning about the five actions of the SRP, and their associated directives, participants will be able to implement the program and enhance the safety plans of their school district. What a spectacular job, Crownpoint High School! Crownpoint hosted its School of Health and School of Engineering showcases. We were truly amazed by the effort put in by students and staff for this event. This showcase was packed with colorful and imaginative presentations. Thank you, Crownpoint!
